‏2012-11-29T11:05:03Z |
Hi,

Thanks for the fast account activation.

I am facing a problem regarding the setup of passwrdless login for the installation of IBM Infosphere Biginsights. I am unable to setup passwordless login for the root user so that we can continue with the installation. Would you please help me with it?

Thanks and Regards,

Adarsh

    Hi Rich,

Thanks for the response. The link for the template is -->http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/puresystems/template/ which is giving me error.

    Anyways the details are:-
    1) I wanted to check the Infosphere Biginsights trial on the Ibm puresystems cloud.
2)One of the requirements for that is to get the password less ssh setup for the root user.
    3)When I tried I amd Getting an error --> Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic).

Thats why I was wondering If someone could help me here with it with the exact steps to be used while setting up passwordless ssh for the root user.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Adarsh

Sorry for the bad link, I have requested the publisher correct it.

I have had an identical error recently with a working Private key shortly after a chmod modification to it.

What OS / software are you using with your private key? Did you issue chmod - 600?
You are not login in as root, you should be logged in as idcuser and use sudo sh got your root like commands.
Almost the same problem - take a look at this link

    Hi Adarsh,

That entire second link not working is odd, since I used my second laptop and got in.

Depending on your cookies you maybe prompted to login then you end up on a general landing page, paste the same link again and you get to the support page.

You didn't tell me your OS and connection software, so I will assume a unix variant :

    ssh idcuser@host.ip.address -i /path_to_rsa_private_key

    Hi Rich,
The link is still not working on me, attached is the screen.

For the ssh part, i guess -i switch is being used to set the identity file.

What I want to ask is , that

1)IBM Infosphere checks that password less ssh is considered for the root user. That means ssh root@localhost should not ask for any password and let me log into.

    2) That is my query so that if the identity file is needed, is there a way that can be stated in any config file so that I don't have to explicitly state that in the ssh command(The - switch).

    Thanks and Regards,

    Adarsh

Not sure why that link isn't working for you, probably a cookies issue.

This ssh problem maybe outside the scope of this forum, but what if you add the identify file to your ~/.ssh/config file so you don't have to type it?

    Hello Adarsh,
As previously mentioned I don't believe that root login is allowed for your instance.

Do you have any documentation that support root login? If you got the SCE Control Panel and review the "Getting Started" section for your instance details, do you see login notes for 'root'?

There should be little you can't do by using 'idcuser' account and the sudo command.
