Pinned topic DB2 for i - UNLOAD/EXPORT of BLOB column

‏2012-11-27T10:47:46Z |
Hi:

I have the need to unload BLOB data (actually, .pdf documents) that are kept in a DB2 for i table.

Since I'm more a DB2 LUW person, I can't find a way to do this....

Anyone out there who knows how to do this...?

Your help would be greatly appreciated....!!

Regards

I haven't used BLOB's but here is the link to the InfoCenter where it talks about using them in SQL

    Hi Scott:

    Thanks for your answer...

I don't think it can help me though.... :-(

I'm trying to help a friend of mine who contacted me as a DB2 knowleadgeable person.
In doing so, I found that DB2 for iSeries is a rather different animal than DB2 for LUW or DB2 for zOS...

This is so simple to do in DB2 for LUW.....(export..lobsinfile..etc)

    Thanks anyway!!

    Regards.

You can look at the CPYTOIMPF system command or just use DB2 Connect to access the DB2 for i server from a client and use the same DB2 EXPORT command.

    Hi:

I browsed thru the CPYTOIMPF command/utility but, since I'm not a iSeries knowledgeable person, I found it rather criptical....

But the DB2 CONNECT option was something that I did not consider.....and it sounds pretty easy on paper....

I'll hand it over to my friend so that he can try it....I'll keep you posted.

    Many, many thanks !!

    Regards.

Here is an article that just came out today showing how to do it via embedded SQL in RPG
