Pinned topic 8.0 versus 7.2.1

‏2012-11-23T18:00:12Z |
Am I better off using ClearQuest 8.0.? versus 7.1.2. We have users in Arizona, CA, and India. We are currently using 2003 version with no Web, just clients. We will be using the Web Client for most users in the new version. We use Visual Basic for our scripting, and on the 7.0.1 Trial it appeared to work correctly. Would 8.0 be better for our new environmment? http://We are not upgrading, we are starting fresh, but I want to be able to copy in my current scripting.

Thanks for any advice!

    Hello,

You are better off going to version 8, especially if you're looking for long term support. 7.1.x was released in 2008, while 8.0.x was released in 2011. Based on the 5-year support lifecycle 7.1 would go out of support in 2013 while 8.0 will remain under support until 2016.

Thanks, Christian. That makes a lot of sense.

Any reason not to go to 8.0.0.4? Will not be using OSLC but the one type-ahead query issue would be nice
