Hi,

I am a newbee working with IBM HTTP Server. I see quite a few lines like these in my access log for IHS.

10.40.12.10 - - 20/Nov/2012:12:29:28 -0600 "GET / HTTP/1.0" 403 280
10.40.12.11 - - 20/Nov/2012:12:29:33 -0600 "GET / HTTP/1.0" 403 280
10.40.12.10 - - 20/Nov/2012:12:29:33 -0600 "GET / HTTP/1.0" 403 280
10.40.12.11 - - 20/Nov/2012:12:29:38 -0600 "GET / HTTP/1.0" 403 280
10.40.12.10 - - 20/Nov/2012:12:29:39 -0600 "GET / HTTP/1.0" 403 280
10.40.12.11 - - 20/Nov/2012:12:29:43 -0600 "GET / HTTP/1.0" 403 280
10.40.12.10 - - 20/Nov/2012:12:29:43 -0600 "GET / HTTP/1.0" 403 280
10.40.12.11 - - 20/Nov/2012:12:29:48 -0600 "GET / HTTP/1.0" 403 280
10.40.12.10 - - 20/Nov/2012:12:29:49 -0600 "GET / HTTP/1.0" 403 280
10.40.12.11 - - 20/Nov/2012:12:29:53 -0600 "GET / HTTP/1.0" 403 280
10.40.12.10 - - 20/Nov/2012:12:29:53 -0600 "GET / HTTP/1.0" 403 280
I understand status code 403 (Forbidden). But, I am not sure what "280" is?
Also, I am not sure where these requests are coming from.

Could someone give me some idea as to where I can start looking or what I can do to get rid of these requests?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Srini

It looks like you have some sort of load balancer and/or proxy server on IP addresses 10.40.12.10 and 10.40.12.11 that keep pinging your HTTP server as health check.
