Pinned topic Cannot install the Java Memory Analyzer

‏2012-11-17T03:37:30Z |
I need to analyze PHD files heap dumps, but not able to install the Tools - JAVA Memory Analyzer in the ISA v4. The installation happens well, but doesn't show up in the tool catalogue. Then when I go to Update -Manage Install Tool Add-ons, I can see that this particular add-on is disabled. If I enable it, it throws an exception. All the screenshots and the log file and trace file is attached. Kindly help as we are facing lot of OOM memory exceptions in the our development env and the troubleshooting has become the utmost priority. My laptop is Win7 64 bit.

I don't see the attached files. If you go to Update->Manage Installed Add-ons you could try to Uninstall Memory Analyzer for ISAv4 and then re-install it.

As you are running a 64-bit Windows you could also install Memory Analyzer 64-bit Windows. This launches as a separate program outside of the ISA4 workbench rather than running the Memory Analyzer for ISAv4 in the ISA workbench in 32-bit mode.

    Hi Pete,

I chose to install the 64 bit memory analyzer and the installation completes with a success message. But I don't see that add-on in the Manage Install Tools menu nor does it come up in the Tools catalogue. Do I need to check somewhere else?

Attached are the screenshots and the logs.

I still don't see any attachments. If you email them to javatool@uk.ibm.com I will take a look.

I suspect that the installation is actually failing but ISA hides the exceptions. If you install an add-on, when it completes it asks if you wish to restart. If you say NO, then go to Help->Support->View Trace you may see exceptions in the log from the install. Once you restart a new log is created so you need to find the log directory and look in the logs from previous runs.

I've same issue when installing from scratch:
    1. install isa 4.1.2
    2. update isa to 4.1.4
    3 install memory analyzer

Analyzer is disabled, trying to enable gives errors:

CWPPR0032E: The requested provisioning operation(s) failed.[ CWPPR0032E: The requested provisioning operation(s) failed.CWPPR0544W: Feature com.ibm.java.diagnostics.dbda.isav4.feature_2.2.2.20120531091905 failed to configure due to an unexpected exception.]

And the error-log indicates a fubar-ed repository links... see attached log.

Noticed that the update to ISA installation is broken with the following error.

CWPPR0539W: An unexpected error occurred when preparing search operations for features. No features will be installed.
org.eclipse.core.runtime.CoreException: Error creating feature "file:/C:/Program Files (x86)/IBM/IBM Support Assistant v41/rcp/eclipse/features/com.ibm.pvc.webcontainer.feature_6.2.0.20090330-1321/". C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\IBM Support Assistant v41\rcp\eclipse\features\com.ibm.pvc.webcontainer.feature_6.2.0.20090330-1321\feature.xml (The system cannot find the path specified.)

The file that is currently present in my laptop is this:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\IBM Support Assistant v41\rcp\eclipse\features\com.ibm.pvc.webcontainer.feature_6.2.0.20100911-1200\feature.xml

Whereas it’s looking for the following file -

    C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\IBM Support Assistant v41\rcp\eclipse\features\com.ibm.pvc.webcontainer.feature_6.2.0.20090330-1321\feature.xml

All the operation were run as an admin I'm going to unistall and wipe it off before trying it again. But I guess there are some issue with the install pack.
