I am Brand new to Cognos and i have never worked on it. I am Migrating Cognos 7.3 reports into Microsoft Reporting tool so all my work is from scratch..
I have few reports that needs to be migrated from Cognos 7.3 to SSRS 2008. I know there are not any tools for this so i am trying to get started from scratch. I dont have anyone at work to direct in the right path however i was wondering if anyone knows where i should get started.
In SImple terms I would need a Datasource which i have, I need help with Dataset.. Is there a way i could retrieve query from Cognos Impromtu and re build it in SSRS... anyone whos familiar with this? Where can i find information on each field in COGNOS...
After running a report, go to the Report pull-down menu item, and select Query.
In this window, select the Profile tab, and the SQL option. This will reveal the SQL query used to retrieve your data
When i did that I dont see the Profile TAB All i see in the query .. Data, Sort, Group , Filter Tabs..

Open each of your Cognos Impromptu reports and go to Report | Query | Profle |SQL
then copy this SQL code into your SSRS would perhaps save you a lot of work...
