Pinned topic Deleting packages with Packaging Utility

‏2012-11-16T08:45:36Z |
Suppose I have to create a release area for version 1.3 of a product.
With the Packaging Utility, I will first copy the 1.0 offering (the base version), then the 1.3 fixpack.
Now, the Packaging Utility shows (if you flag *Show All*) 2 versions of the product in the release area: 1.0 and 1.3.
This means, I suppose, that by accessing that release area with Installation Manager, you can install either version 1.0 or version 1.3.
If I need only version 1.3, can I delete the 1.0 package from the release area?
The Packaging Utility allows you to do that, but I am not sure whether the resulting release area contains a fully working (and self-consistent) 1.3 offering.

If the 1.0 version of the package is deleted the entire 1.3 version of the package will be available in the repository. This would allow a user to install version 1.3 from the repository.

BTW if there ever is a problem with missing content the Installation Manager complains early, even before it begins to download artifacts, and no harm is done.

Yes, this is the actual behavior of Installation Manager.
    I verified it.
