Pinned topic HTTP Server fails to start on RHEL 6.3

‏2012-11-15T22:01:47Z |
I have a new RHEL 6.3 server running on zLinux (64-bit). I have successfully installed WAS 7.0 64-bit (standalone with 1 profile created). I have applied 7.0.0.21 fix pack to both WAS and SDK. I am trying to install IBM HTTP Server 7 on this server but the install is failing during configuration (indicates partialsuccess but none of the conf files are created and populated). Since the HTTP Server 7 software installed, I went ahead and applied 7.0.0.21 fix for HTTP and SDK.

I manually created httpd.conf, admin.conf, and envvar files from the default files delivered. When I attempt to start httpd with apachectl, it fails with ./apachectl: line 78: 32524 Segmentation fault (core dumped) $HTTPD $ARGV

Line 78 is execution of httpd. I have not been able to find a core dump. I did use GDB to try and isolate the failure in httpd. It shows:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x41885a46 in _dl_init_internal () from /lib/ld.so.1

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Maybe missing some basic 32-bit binary support?

I have validated all zLinux package requirements and all are installed. The installation process is failing with segmentation fault when attempting to run the following:
    /opt/IBM/HTTPServer/bin/postinst -i /opt/IBM/HTTPServer -t install -v PORT=80 -v SERVERNAME=plzpdt15.ca.com -v JAVADIR=/opt/IBM/HTTPServer/java/jre -v ADMINPORT=8008

    Details on segmentation fault:

    Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
    0x41885a46 in _dl_init_internal () from /lib/ld.so.1
    Missing separate debuginfos, use: debuginfo-install glibc-2.12-1.80.el6.s390 nss-softokn-freebl-3.12.9-11.el6.s390
    (gdb) bt full
    #0 0x41885a46 in _dl_init_internal () from /lib/ld.so.1
    No symbol table info available.
    #1 0x41878972 in _dl_start_user () from /lib/ld.so.1
    No symbol table info available.
I have engaged Red Hat support but want to see if anyone has successfully installed IBM HTTP 7 on 64-bit RHEL 6.3 on zLinux.

Resolved after updating RHEL 6.3 (and all packages installed) to 2.6.32-279.14.1.el6.s390x.
