Pinned topic DS3200 controller error

‏2012-11-13T06:22:40Z |
hi,Pro, i got a problem when exchanging a failed single controller on DS3200, the new controller is ok, the original 4 disks are fine and built in raid 5, when i login the sm, i cannt find any disks! all leds on back plane are green, the front are no lights, so i guess, the hdd's fw is so old that can not operationed with the newer controller, what should i do? downgrade the controller fw? or upgrade the hdd's fw? are there any risks?

thanks for your help.

There is always risks when dealing a firmware upgrade/downgrade. I would suggest to upgrade the drive firmware if it will allow you to do so. First check what version the new controller is, then download the drive firmware compatible with that controller firmware version.

so sorry, at that time, i didnt save the asd file, next time i will. i'm sure. what should i do......, at last, the customer didnt insist on keeping the data, so we replaced the drive, then restored the data. but the problem was still in my mind.
