Pinned topic DS3.1.1.0: Visual Explain rejects hyphenated account-name (auth id)

‏2012-11-09T18:44:10Z |
Using IBM Data Studio Version 3.1.1.0 full-client (32-bit) on Win7(64-bit) connecting to remote DB2 v9.7 fp5 (DPF) database on Linux x64.

Visual-Explain can't cope with my username which contains a hyphen (dash) - Visual-Explain returns SQL0104 (visual explain seems to perform 'set schema' under the covers without quoting my hyphenated account name). I cannot change my account-name.

Can anyone suggest a workaround?

It makes no difference to the symptom if I specify a 'current schema' value that does not contain a hyphen - the trace shows that the Visual-Explain tries to set schema initially to my hyphenated account name.

But other features of Data-Studio work correctly with the same account name - it's only Visual Explain that throws the exception.

I traced the Visual explain, and found this message in the trace file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>db2luw20459E</key><string>SQLCODE: 20459, SQLSTATE: 01H55 ,(Extra message: <![CDATAError: Bind failure. Pos=0; Line=28712;]>)</string></dict></plist>

    problem solved. The db2 server did not have the db2explainrtns.bnd bound. Once that was bound the Visual-Explain works correctly with my account.
