Pinned topic X3650 m3 memory problem

‏2012-11-07T13:36:57Z |
Hi,

I have a x3650 m3 (MT 7945). The problem is that the system does not recognize the memory installed.

Right now it has 4 ddr of 4GB and it only recognize 8 GB total memory, plus it says that there is a memory issue with dimm 3 and 6.

I have tryied several position when installing the memory, as per the manual, the installation sequence in independent mode is 3,12,6,15....

Recently i have updated the bios, imm ,etc and after the reboot all seems to be equal.

Another fact is that, If I install the same memory in the same position in another test server, all is OK and the server boots with 16 GB.

I'm attaching the dsa logs.

Many thanks and Regards,

Enzo

    Dear Enzo,

looks like CPU 1 problem. Check it by swapping CPUs.

      Hi Alexander,

Thanks for your response. I have switched both cpu's and memory yesterday, from the server that works. And all seems to be equal.

The two cpus from the "faulty" server, works great in the other server.

Could this be a mainboard problem?

I'm attaching the new dsa logs, after changing memory and both cpus.

      Many thanks and Regards,

      Enzo

Ok, now I have this problem. The faulty server is in production and I want to replace it with the other server.

Both servers had 6 600GB disks configured with RAID1+0. Both server are equal x3650m3.

Can I connect the disks from the "faulty" server into the "good" server?

Or is there any previous step in order to set up the RAID? Can this lead to data loss?

I' rememeber that with the x445 servers and serveraid 6m, when you boot and the configuration changes, you can choose to take the configuration from the disks or from the serveraid 6m card.

          Many thanks for your help.

          Regards,

          Enzo
