Pinned topic Installing IBM Case Manager 5.1.0 on 32-bit Windows

‏2012-11-07T12:20:49Z |
Dear All,

I am planning to install IBM Case Manager 5.1.0 on a 32-bit Windows 7 machine. While going through the pre-requisites for the installation, I noticed a number of products are for 64-bit OS. For e.g. all the fix packs mentioned in the pre-requisites section in this link are for 64-bit windows: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24030632

Has anyone installed IBM Case Manager on a 32-bits windows server with these fix packs? Or can someone direct me to the 32-bit installables?

Thanks.

You really don't want to install on Windows 7 32-bit OS. Never mind that a 32-bit OS is going to limit the memory you can allocate to the application server....we also don't support installing on Windows 7.

Please refer to the following guide for a list of supporting hardware/software

      Thanks for your prompt response.

I agree that installing on 32-bit windows is probably not the best thing to do, but we are trying to do a PoC initially. So my question is: would it allow me to install on 32-bit windows 7? Or the installation itself won't proceed.

On one of the IBM links(http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/casemgmt/v5r0m0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.casemgmt.installing.doc%2Facmin033.htm), I found this piece of info:

"For Microsoft Windows servers, if you have not already done so, install the required Windows components. Option Description
Microsoft Windows XP Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 3.0
Content Engine version 5.0.0 with Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows Server 2008, or Microsoft Windows 7 Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) or Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 3.0 "

      Thanks again.

Please install vmware (preferably the server addition) on your server and then you can (a) create an OS that is supported and (b) have a re-usable image for future POCs

I would also suggest that you install the latest version for Case Manager 5.1.1 and P8 (ie CE 5.1, PE 5.0, XT 1.1.5) with the latest fix packs.
