Pinned topic Using PR0CNFG to create DBALIAS's

‏2012-11-05T22:01:30Z |
Limited info in the CONFIG.PDF document (Optim LUW 8.1 - Windows).
I'm using PR0CNFG to create a bunch of DBAlias's . Getting errors in DBMSType and DBMSVersion variables. Does anyone know what the type and version should be if I'm using DB2 9.7 for windows...

/PSTDirName=OPTIMDIR
/PSTDirUserID=Allanxxx
/PSTDirPassword=Cbr900rr
/DBAAction=createnew
/DBAName=PRIVACY
/DBMSType=???????????? DB2/DB2LUW doesn't work
/DBMSVersion=????????? 9.7/97/09.7.000 doesn't work
/Unicode=TRUE
/MultibyteDB=TRUE
/ConnectStr=PRIVACY
/UserID=Allanxxx
/Password=Cbr900rr
/SPAction=CreateNew
/Task=DB

    Isn't this it:
    /DBMSTYPE=
The DBMS associated with the DB Alias. Required if /TASK=DB.
    DB2MVS
    SYBASE
    INFORMIX
    ORACLE
    SQLSERVER

If I remember correctly, the DBMS Type for DB2 LUW is either 'U' or 'UDB'. I don't have access to any of my sandboxes right now, but I believe its along those lines. And yes, the documentation around command line process possibilities is sorely lacking.

Oh, and in that case '9.7' as the version will work.

Matthew is correct. I checked the documentation (have 9.1, but it should be the same in this regards) and the DB2 LUW DBMSType is UDB (please see below).

    /DBMSTYPE=
The DBMS associated with the DB Alias. Required if /TASK=DB.
    MVSDB2 for DB2 MVS
    SYBASE for Sybase
    INFORMIX for Informix
    ORACLE for Oracle
    SQLSERVER for SQL Server
    TERADATA for Teradata
    UDB for DB2 LUW
