when i implement an authentication realm and create a user identity by using WL.Server.setActiveUser(user, realmName)
I'm creating a session on the Worklight Server, right?
And how can i decide how long this session has to stay alive?
If there are many users, could be session collisions? So how is the session distinguished on the server? (By a sessionID?).

Session is managed by application server, so you don't have to worry about session collisions.
To define the session length you can use serverSessionTimeout property in worklight.properties file.
The default is 30 minutes.
