Pinned topic Compatability with WL Studio Consumer Edition and WL Server Enterprise

‏2012-10-23T20:24:34Z |
Are the application developed in WL Studio Consumer Edition compatible with WL Server Enterprise Edition and similarly are the application developed and packaged with WL Studio Enterprise Edition compatible with WL Server Consumer Edition. Also are apps developed with WL Studio Developer Edition work with Worklight Consumer and Enterprise Edition Server.

Is there a migration/upgrade path from Developer Edition to Consumer/Enterprise Edition ? Do we have to uninstall and reinstall or is there a easier way to upgrade to Consumer and Enterprise Edition.

Thanks
GP

    Hi Gautham,

The free Developer Edition is a subset of the studio component of the Consumer/Enterprise edition, so theoretically apps developed with DE should work on C/E, but not necessarily the reverse.

See Chapter 11, in the Developer Reference Guide for information on moving from test to production:

    http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/mobile-solutions/worklight/docs/wl_5_0_dev_ref.pdf

Also Module 42 – Moving from Development Environment to Remote QA and Production
    Servers:

    http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/mobile-solutions/worklight/docs/Module_42_-_Moving_from_Development_Environment_to_Remote_QA_and_Production_Servers.pdf

and, yes, when moving from the free Developer edition to either the Consumer or Enterprise editions, you should install BOTH the studio and server components from either the Consumer or Enterprise edition. You should not mix and match DE and C/E editions.
