i'm new powerVm .i want to create some virtual machines on system p5, so what are softwares which i must be install in physical machine?

    i'm confuse about the way that to build a virtualazation environment. so do i intall VIO Server on system P boot from CD,DVD,NIM? after that can enable IVM to manage system,Lpars?

    Yes, you would install the VIO server on a partition. That partition is your IVM. Using a web browser you connect up with IVM and can build virtual servers from there.

    If you P5 hardware was previously managed by an HMC, you would need to reset the hardware back to factory defaults in order to install the VIO / IVM partition.

    Refer to Redbook resources to see the specific steps.

    thanks for support, but i'm still confuse about base virtulization.
    assume i have a system p 5 with 1 Aix Dvd. i want to create some virtulation machines. the step i should do:
    step 1. install vio server on system p.( using dvd)
    2. create reousrce virtual for virtual machine ( use Ivm)
    3. create virtual machine ( partition)
    4. install OS for virtual machine.
