Pinned topic SC_DISK_ERR, LVM_IO_FAIL ... list and definitions

‏2012-10-15T14:54:43Z |
Hi

I am looking for a document where all the AIX/VIOS I/O errors code (SC_DISK_ERR<X>, SC_PCM_ERR_DISK<X>, LVM_IO_FAIL, etc...) would be listed and documented.
I cannot find them in the IBM infocenter, but may be I am not looking correctly.
So, if anyone has such list or a pointer to the right document, that would be great.

Thanks.

    You will find a correspondance between most error ids and some error labels in /usr/include/sys/errids.h

    It's my understanding that any software you install (such a PCM) could add its own error ids, so it could be hard to track them all.

    Hi
    Thanks for the reply, but what I can find in the errids.h file does not match what I need since all the ERRID_SC_DISK_* (for example: ERRID_SC_DISK_ERR7) is not in this file. Any idea where all the ERRID_SC_DISK_ERR* can be?
    Is it because of a missing fileset?
    Thanks.

    You can use errpt -t to display the defined error record templates. Here is an example for SC_DISK_ERR1

    $ errpt -t | grep SC_DISK_ERR1
    747725D9 SC_DISK_ERR1 PERM H DISK OPERATION ERROR
    $ errpt -atj 747725D9
    IDENTIFIER 747725D9

    Label: SC_DISK_ERR1
    Class: H
    Type: PERM
    Loggable: YES Reportable: YES Alertable: NO
