Symptom: When connecting to another host share from said server, attempts to transverse parts of the file structure or open a text file can result in a long delay. Eventually the file/folder may open or it will timeout and display the popup attached. A packet trace shows that there is no SMB traffic during this delay. This symptom appeared upon installing Trend Micro, was asymptomatic when Trend Micro was removed, and symptoms returned upon re-installation.
Troubleshooting: The following steps were taken, though some seemed to alleviate the symptom, none eliminated it
Upgraded NIC Driver (Broadcom BCM5709C from v22.214.171.124 to v126.96.36.199) and Teaming Software (BACS v188.8.131.52 to v184.108.40.206 (rebooted)
Disabled Secondary NIC (no reboot)
Uninstalled Teaming Software and configured single Primary NIC (all other NICs Disabled) (no reboot) (Microsoft does not support NIC Teaming - KB968703)
Possible Workaround: Disabled Offline and Client Cache functions via GPO and Registry changes (reboot required for Registry changes)
GPO: Disable Computer configuration -> Policies -> Administrative templates ->Network -> offline files -> "Allow or disallow use of the offline files feature"
GPO: Enable User Configuration -> Policies -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Folder Redirection -> "Do not automatically make redirected folders available offline"
REG: Create the following keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters

Re: CP 10.6 SP1 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Causes SMB File Share Issues2012-10-15T17:58:46ZThis is the accepted answer. This is the accepted answer. You may want to open a case with Support and have them escalate this issue to Trend Micro.
Is Real Time scanning causing the problem. Does disabling real-time scanning work around the problem?
