Pinned topic Understanding "Send Teamworks Email" OOTB Service

‏2012-10-11T17:44:29Z |
Hi,

I am having trouble with getting the OOTB Send Email service to work, as it returns the error "Could not connect to SMTP host: smtp.yourcompany.com, port:25." I also tried to go through a local EmailServer that I downloaded following the directions in Kolban's IBPM Book, the October version and I got a similar error - "Could not connect to SMTP host: localhost, port:25".

I would appreciate any and all help with figuring out how to either connect to the port, or understand what parameters I am getting wrong (Please see list below of the inputs that I am currently mapping to the service):

"fona@test.com" - to
"fona@test.com" - from
"Display Message" - subject
"Invalid entry" - messageText
"text/html" - contentType
"localhost" - smtpHost

How have you confirmed that the SMTP server is working independent of BPM? Until you have done that, it is far more likely you need help setting up/accessing the SMTP server than just changing a parameter you are usng on this service.

    Hi,

I think you should configure the SMTP host in your 99Local.xml (or in 100Custom.xml)
The default in this file is <smtp-server>smtp.yourcompany.com</smtp-server>
So this is probably why you get this in the error message...

That would correct the problem is they can't get the task e-mails (set by a user prefernce "Send Task Email") to work. I believe this question is about the service in the System Data Toolkit, and for that one you need to supply the address of your SMTP serve when you call the service.

Either way, the first step is likely confirming your SMTP server is actually working...
