Pinned topic How to set Startup data uses WEF

How can we use WEF to call a web service from the portlet's init() method. That is create a startup object that caches some data for drop downs etc.

The portlet implementation's init method is called before the WEF model based webapp is loaded/run, so that's not the right place.

I suggest looking at the Event Handler mechanism to call an action and the on webapp load event in particular, to see if that will work for your use case.
If the results will be the same across users and requests, then you may also want to take a look at the Cache Control builder, so the results can be shared across users.

    I hope that info helps,
