Pinned topic Cannot deploy VSP using SCAS Beta 5

‏2012-10-05T20:32:40Z |
I am using SmartCloud Application Workload Services BETA 5 running on SCE ( I am using a test account, id=christinalau )

Build id : 3.1.0.2-20120725173804 / 20120725-1730-207

I created a virtual system pattern consisting of 1 part, which is IBM Workload Deployer Image for x86 Systems

I tried to deploy the pattern. After a few seconds I get this exception :

Virtual machine could not be registered

I had set the Cloud Provider to be my SCE test account.
I verified that I can successfully connect to my cloud provider.
I verified that I can deploy a virtual application pattern consisting of 2 parts. The default virtual image for deploying shared services and virtual applications is set to the same (IBM Workload Deployer Image for x86 Systems) so it seems that there is nothing wrong with that base image.
I verified that I have enough IP available to create a new vm ( at the time I tried to deploy the VSP, I only had my SCAS service running on my account, so only 1 out of 5 IP's were used)

Are there any known issues with deploying virtual systems on this SCAS version ?

Thanks
Valentina

    Hi,
There is a currently an issue with Db2 deployments in the Trial account.

Please note which data center you are using as described in the template at the top of the forum.

Verify in the account tabs that your free TCP/IP addresses have all been released and deleted, I know you stated that already.

I don't believe VSPs are fully supported as of this date, so if you are in the trial account profile, that could be the issue.

You will need to export your Trace logs from SCAWS. These logs are usually too large to attach to the forum, so you will have to use the following service to upload:
    https://www.ecurep.ibm.com/app/upload Secure https Upload
    http://www.ecurep.ibm.com/app/upload Standard http Upload

Follow on screen instructions for PMR upload of the Trace file.
    Use the generic PMR 50838,550,000.
    Use morganri@us.ibm.com for email notification.

You may add your email, separated by a comma, if desired.

    Sincerely.

      Hi Rich

Thanks for the answer, I did open the template but some of the questions didn't seem to apply

      To summarize :
      I am using SCAS service build 3.1.0.2-20120725173804 / 20120725-1730-207

The base image setup by the service is IBM Workload Deployer Image for x86 Systems; instance ID : 20061262 ( which seems to be stored in RTP datacenter ). This is what I used as the base image for my VSP. The VSP consists of one part, IBM Workload Deployer Image for x86 Systems, no script packages.

I did check using the IP Groups tab that there are no IP's used at the time I tried to deploy my VSP. To verify that unavailable IP's is not the issue here I deployed a vApp pattern with 2 parts; the vApp instances were successfully created and I could see the 2 IP's being used in the IP Groups tab.

I will upload the log files although they might be tainted by messages from the vApp I created afterward.

      Valentina

        Velentina,

The other issue is that not all SCE accounts have access to all images - This would cause your process to fail.

Unlikely, since I checked that the base image was available on both accounts.I logged in using both accounts and could find the base image - searched by image id - in the assets repository

            Hi Valentina,
The Assets repository is not specific based on the account you are signed into. The Assets repository represents all things in SCE -whether the account you are signed into has it available or not.

Please note we have customized the catalog of images and configurations that we make available in the Trial account -our Trial account does not reflect the full public catalog available to customers when they open their own SmartCloud Enterprise account.
