Viruses are being spread to clearcase data thru company mapped drives and management has asked if we can disable M drive since company policy is to only use snapshot views anyway. Is there a neg. side effect to this since dynamic views are not used or even if they were, they can still use Clearcase explorer instead of M drive?

Re: Can MVFS drive be disabled if policy is to create only snapshot view2012-10-04T07:36:45ZThis is the accepted answer. This is the accepted answer. When you install ClearCase on a client, you are not compelled to install MVFS: you can simply make this choice.
Anyway, if your developers already have CC and MVFS installed, you should implement a trigger-based workaround.
You cannot attach a trigger to mkview, so there is no way to avoid creation of dynamic views, but you can attach a pre-op trigger to setact.
This trigger should check for the kind of view (i.e. dynamic or snapshot) where setact is being performed, and return an error if the view is dynamic.
If you are using base (_not_ UCM) ClearCase, you don't have activities, so you should put this control on a checkout (or checkin) trigger.
