Pinned topic Which operating system works best with Maximo 7.x?

‏2012-10-02T17:31:27Z |
Hello,

We are planning our upgrade from Maximo 6.2.8 to Maximo 7.1 -> Maximo 7.5. We are currently using Sun Solaris, but to take advantage of VMWare we have the option of Windows Server or Red Hat Linux. Both are supported as a platform. Are there any advantage or disadvantages to using either OS?

We have 7.5 on Windows 2008 r2 running on Microsoft Hyper-V. IT works well for us. The only issue is that Java (not maximo) does not release memory and so we reboot every couple of nights. We are a microsoft shop and that is why we went with Windows.

At the moment, I cannot think of a operating system relevant problem or advantage I encountered. However, I saw mostly windows being used.

In the end, this should culminate into which one of the two is easier and thus cheaper to support and operate at your company.

In our experience linux offers better performance both with DB2 and with Websphere.
