We are planning our upgrade from Maximo 6.2.8 to Maximo 7.1 -> Maximo 7.5. We are currently using Sun Solaris, but to take advantage of VMWare we have the option of Windows Server or Red Hat Linux. Both are supported as a platform. Are there any advantage or disadvantages to using either OS?

The only issue is that Java (not maximo) does not release memory and so we reboot every couple of nights. We are a microsoft shop and that is why we went with Windows.

In the end, this should culminate into which one of the two is easier and thus cheaper to support and operate at your company.
