Pinned topic Bursting Reports to File location in cognos 10

Hi

I am working on bursting a dashboard report to a file location which was recently upgraded to congos 10.1.1. The dashboard report's output is a pdf file with 12 report pages which include Charts,Lists and Crosstabs. I wanted to know if it is possible to burst such report to a file location using congos 10 and this also involves bursting a set of reports to sub folders in the main folder.

And the report right now runs on 3 different prompt parameters which come from a drill through report which is in the same package. Is it possible to burst this report? Please let me know if you need to know this situation in more details. Thanks for your help!!

Has your Cognos Admin set up to save to the file system? If that is not done first then you can't even tell cognos to save to a file system. Other than that, the prompts themselves will have to be entered at the time you set up the job to execute your bursting. I don't know if a drill-through click and automatically send bursts. You may need the SDK to handle the drill-through click to generate a job for you that is set to burst AND also to pass the parameters properly.

As far as getting the directories created, you have to set up a script in your OS that looks at the XML files created during file system bursting and create the directories based on the burst key.
