We are planning to upgrade clearcase from 188.8.131.52 to 184.108.40.206. Initially I have upgraded the client to 220.127.116.11 and the server is still in 18.104.22.168. Is there any porblem is keeping the server patch lower than the client version?
I have checked this technote http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21597061 and it says "22.214.171.124 client should be OK to connect to 126.96.36.199 server". Have anyone seen any issue with the version mismatch between client and the server?

This is the accepted answer.Until recently, we were running with our VOB/registry server running 188.8.131.52 (HPUX) with some (but not all) Windows & Linux clients running 184.108.40.206.
We did not encounter any interop issues.

It should not be problem according to IBM if you have server at 7.0.1 and client at 7.1 or if you have server at 7.1 then the client can be on 7.0.x or on 7.1.x.
but if you have server at 7.1.2 you can not use if you have client at 7.0.x or at 7.1.x
This is applicable for CCRC client only but for thick client this does not matter.
