Pinned topic [Urgent] Clearcase 7.1.2.7 client points to Clearcase server 7.1.2.6

‏2012-09-22T21:05:29Z |
Hi All,

We are planning to upgrade clearcase from 7.1.2.6 to 7.1.2.7. Initially I have upgraded the client to 7.1.2.7 and the server is still in 7.1.2.6. Is there any porblem is keeping the server patch lower than the client version?
I have checked this technote http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21597061 and it says "7.1.2.7 client should be OK to connect to 7.1.2.6 server". Have anyone seen any issue with the version mismatch between client and the server?

Cheers,
Jose

It's hard to answer this specific question unless somebody has the exact version installed. In general, only the first three letter matters.

Until recently, we were running with our VOB/registry server running 7.1.2.5 (HPUX) with some (but not all) Windows & Linux clients running 7.1.2.7.

We did not encounter any interop issues.

    Hi,

It should not be problem according to IBM if you have server at 7.0.1 and client at 7.1 or if you have server at 7.1 then the client can be on 7.0.x or on 7.1.x.
but if you have server at 7.1.2 you can not use if you have client at 7.0.x or at 7.1.x
This is applicable for CCRC client only but for thick client this does not matter.

    Thanks
