Pinned topic BARCODE READERS WITH Tivoli Asset Management for IT TAMIT

Hi,
Does anyone know if TAMIT can be synchronized/updated using barcode readers?
Are there organizations using barcode readers to input data?
Thanks,
-Doug

It absolutely can. It's just that TAMIT is a name that's a little too new to get search results on. But using "Maximo", which is the legacy name of the underlying software will give you several. Here's a great blog post on the topic:

Some customization may be required, of course.

I am in an IT shop that uses base Maximo (not SCCD). We are using EZMax Mobile and barcodes. We also use USB barcode readers to enter data into maximo on a regualr PC workstation. The USB barcode reader act as a keyboard and so can be used against any fields. As mentioned you can do more if you put in the programming, but the savings on keystrokes when there are 100 new items to enter is good in itself.

What type of barcode reader do your use? Can you provide a link to check? I always have problems to choose a right barcode reader. Last time I download a barcode reader on the Internet. But it can not work in my program.

I have question about barcode reader. Recently I need a barcode reader in my work. I am new to this. I make a google search and found many barcode readers. Most of them are third party controls, like this qr code reader or code 39 reader. USB barcode readers are selcomly seen. So, what I want to ask is that what's the difference between third party control readers and USB barcode readers? Which one is better? Thanks.
