Pinned topic Physical Data Model reverse engineer skips view remark

‏2012-09-19T21:48:38Z |
Hi,

I created a physical data model from reverse engineering a DB2 9.7 DB and the comment on the view is missing in the physical data model even though it appears in syscat.tables.remarks.

The type of comment that is not appearing on reverse engineer
Example 2: Add a comment for the EMP_VIEW1 view.
COMMENT ON TABLE EMP_VIEW1
IS 'View of the EMPLOYEE table without salary information'

Strangely enough IDA is picking up the comments on individual columns within the view though.

The type of comments that are appearing on reverse engineer
Example 4: Add comments for two different columns of the EMPLOYEE table.
COMMENT ON EMPLOYEE
(WORKDEPT IS 'see DEPARTMENT table for names',
EDLEVEL IS 'highest grade level passed in school' )

How can I get IDA to pick up the view comment?
DB2 Comment on syntax for reference

Thanks,
Mike

What's the version of IDA you are using? It works fine here. The comment of view get reverse engineering correctly.
Can you go to Data Source Explorer --> click the view --> Property view --> Documentation tab, check if the comment
    is there or not?

    Thanks,

    IDA 8.1

I see the documentation in the Data Source Explorer.
I don't see it in the Data Project Explorer in the Physical Data Model in my Data Development Project.

    Hi,

Is there an open issue for this or should I open a PMR?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Can you try drag & drop the view with remark from Data Source Explorer to Project Explorer, go to the
Property Browser of the view in project explorer, check if the comment get brought to the model.

    Thanks,

I don't have the original environment that I saw this problem on.
I ran reverse engineer on a db2 9.7 FP 6 env DB and the view remark is generated now!

    Thanks,
