Pinned topic Trim available on Hash_lookup on Z yet?

‏2012-09-14T21:20:17Z |
Hey there,
hash lookup using varying field lengths as key yielding different results.

LAST_NAME on one system has a different hashed value on another and the only difference is the field length (distributed is 25 while Z is 30)
Normally I'd use the 'trim' and 'upper' on distributed to make sure all hasg to same value but Z is not doing it...

Thoughts?

When trimmed they should hash to the same value. I suggest you open a defect with IBM.

    Hi.

We opened a marketing request to correct this functionality gap (IBM does not classify it as a "defect") last year, MR1025123556.  According to the Optim Manager of Development, TRIM will be available in the Z/OS PTF scheduled for February 2014. TRIM may even be available earlier (Jan 1?), certainly if you want to participate in beta testing.

Hi Edward, I understand that the fix is available; we haven't implemented any patches/upgrades here yet however. Confirm with IBM
