    Experiencing the exact problem currently

Migrated a projected from Rational 6 to 7 then 8.5 and now I am unable to regenerate my Bottom up EJB Web Service. I get the error displayed above when I right click my session bean -> Web Service -> create web service then click Next in the wizard.

    Any suggestions??

I am also using RAD 8.5 , WAS 8.5, and attempting to create a JAX-RPC Service

However if i create a new workspace and new EJB project i am able to sucessfully create a Bottom up EJB WS.

ok my work around was to rebuild/re-create (very time consuming) my project in a new workspace.

I still cannot figure out how to re-generate my Bottom up EJB Web Service from a migrated RAD 8.5 workspace.

When i migrated my project from RAD 6 to 7 i was able to regenerate my service easily.

I have more projects to migrate, I would really love to get a simple resolution.

RAD8.5.1 had this issue fixed. We are able to re-generate Bottom Up EJB Web Service from an existing workspace in RAD8.5.1 now.

New issue is that, in a new workspace, when we fresh check out projects, which have been previously migrated to 8.5 compatible, then the RAD8.5.1 just won't generate those derived classes for the JAX-RPC services. Or in an existing workspace, when we change the URL of a JAX-RPC client in the WSDL file, the RAD8.5.1 just won't re-generate the derived classes. when the URL in the derived ...ServiceLocator.java is not updated accordingly, the service calls fail.

Workaround is to copy/paste derived classes over to new workspaces or manually update derived classes in existing workspace. This is not a pleasant task in an organization where multiple developers are concurrently developing the same EAR.

    Hello,

If with "Derived classes" you mean the _Ser, _Deser, _Helper classes that should be generated for a JAX-RPC Web Service when calling "Java EE->Prepare for Deployment" or Publishing, then this is an issue that support/development are looking into for RAD 8.5.1.
I would recommend that you open a PMR:

    https://www-947.ibm.com/support/servicerequest/Home.action

    Thank you and regards, Lara

FYI - PM81606: Prepare for Deployment does not generate JAX-RPC code
