Component rules go in type trees, and type trees are where you define records, their size, and thier pad characters. How can the type tree make such an identification unless it knows the attributes of the record, such as pad character?

If map rule try this:
If your record has a terminator then subtract 1 from SIZE result.
= NUMBERTOTEXT(SIZE(TEXT(YourRecord:Yourfile) -1))
