Pinned topic Msg IZE0106E Connect failed with error "Password expired"

‏2012-09-04T12:56:13Z |
I'm using CICS Explorer version 1.1.1.2 (build id: 201208141736).
When I log on to a Data Interface Connection for my 'sandbox' system running CICS/TS 4.2 Developers Trial it works just fine. However, if I log on to a Management Interface Connection for the same system using the exact same password I get this "password expired" message. Would someone be able to explain this to me or help me debug this issue? Thanks!

    Hi,

Many apologies - I thought I had replied to this in the other thread but failed to do so.

We're at a bit of a loss, initially, as to how this could happen. Could you connect with SM data, select your CICSplex, open the TCP/IP services view and copy/paste the contents into a post?

Please also send the parameters you're using to connect.

Here's an example of what I want to see, from my system.
CMCI connection to <hostname>, port 27062.
SM data connection to <hostname>, port 27052.

    1. TCPIPS
"Region" "Name" "Port" "Service Status" "Num Of Connections" "Backlog" "IP Address" "TS Queue Prefix" "Socket Close Action"
    "IYCWEGW1" "EYUCMCIT" "27061" "OPEN" "0" "100" "9.20.5.7" "" "TIMEOUT"
    "IYCWEGW1" "EYUWUI" "27051" "OPEN" "0" "100" "9.20.5.7" "" "TIMEOUT"
    "IYCWEGW1" "IPIC" "27811" "OPEN" "0" "1" "9.20.5.7" "" "WAIT"
    "IYCWEGW2" "EYUCMCIT" "27062" "OPEN" "1" "100" "9.20.5.7" "" "TIMEOUT"
    "IYCWEGW2" "EYUWUI" "27052" "OPEN" "0" "100" "9.20.5.7" "" "TIMEOUT"
    "IYCWEGW2" "IPIC" "27812" "OPEN" "0" "1" "9.20.5.7" "" "WAIT"

The TCPIPS table confirms that 27062 is the EYUCMCIT port on my 2nd WUI server, while the 27052 is the EYUWUI port (which is the one we use for the SM data connection) on the same server.

Hopefully by this point you'll have spotted a discrepancy.

If everything looks in order, would be worth having a look in the CICS logs on the server. As usual, if this isn't a simple mistake in choosing port numbers on the client, it's going to be some kind of server-side configuration issue!

    Thanks,

    Dave

Found one discrepancy in the connection parameters. In my SM connection I specified port 49004 but in my MI connection I had 49003. I changed the 49003 to 49004 and tried again.

On my CICS SM perspective I clicked on the plex name at the top of the tree view. I then clicked on the Operations drop down then the TCP/IP Services option. I see this:
Region Name Port Service Num of Backlog IP TS Queue Socket Close
    Status Connections Address Prefix Action
    CICSWEBM EYUCMCIT 49003 CLOSED 0 100 TIMEOUT
    CICSWEBM EYUWUI 49004 OPEN 1 100 10.1.10.20 TIMEOUT
    CICSWEBM WEBINSSL 49003 OPEN 0 5 10.1.10.20 WAIT
    DEV1LPAR ECI 9304 OPEN 0 1 10.1.10.20 WAIT

After changing the port number I'm getting a different error. In the error log is IZE0105E Connection failed with exception The element type "HR" must be terminated by the matching end-tag"</HR>".

Thanks to Joe Winchester and William Yates who had me get a 1-2 trace of the WUI region for the SO and WB domains. I printed it and it showed I was missing transaction CWWU. I installed this transaction and it didn't fix the problem so I did some reading in the CICS/TS 4.2 InfoCenter about this transaction. I decided to install the entire RDO group where it resided. The group was DFHWU. I installed it and I was able to log on to CICS Explorer. I'm now able to define resources using CICS Explorer. Off to the races now!
Thanks also to everyone else who provided me assistance.
