Pinned topic [Answered] How to use Install Manager command tool silently?

‏2012-08-23T08:54:50Z |
I tried:
/opt/IM/InstallationManager/eclipse/tools/imcl -acceptLicense install com.ibm.imp.wce -installationDirectory /opt/IBM/WebSphere/WorkLight -repositories /root/itso/WL/imf-offering/wce -preferences com.ibm.cic.common.core.preferences.preserveDownloadedArtifacts=true -showProgress

But failed when it ran postinstall.xml. Does any one know how to do it? Thanks!

Re: How to use Install Manager command tool to install Worklight silently?

In this release, the IBM Worklight installer does not support installation through "command-line mode" (imcl) nor "console mode" (interactive install with text-mode UI).

However, there are two ways you can use to install IBM Worklight on a server with just a remote login:

    Solution 1

You can log into the server machine using "ssh -X". This gives you the ability to run IM as a GUI. You only need to have GUI libraries installed on the server machine and an X Window server running on your desktop machine. The X Window server is the normal GUI on Linux, is part of Cygwin for Windows, and is an Apple-provided utility program for Mac OS X.

    Solution 2

You can install on Unix or Windows first, and then transfer the contents.

For an installation together with WebSphere Application Server, Liberty profile

    Transfer from Unix

Copy the server (from INSTALLDIR/server/wlp) to the server machine. If the file wlp/bin/server.bin exists, rename it wlp/bin/server, thereby erasing the platform specific wlp/bin/server program.

Copy the databases (from /var/ibm/Worklight/derby) to the server machine.

    Transfer from Windows

Copy the server (from INSTALLDIR\server\wlp) and the servers data (from "C:\ProgramData\IBM\Worklight\WAS85liberty-server\wlp" on Windows 7, or "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\Worklight\WAS85liberty-server\wlp" on Windows XP) together to the server machine, so that the two wlp directories are merged. That is, the subdirectories bin, lib, etc. come from the first location, the subdirectory 'usr' comes from the second location.

Remove the file wlp/etc/server.env from the copy on server machine.

Make all files in wlp/bin/* executable: chmod a+x wlp/bin/*

Copy the databases (from "C:\ProgramData\IBM\Worklight\derby" on Windows 7, or "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\Worklight\derby" on Windows XP) to the server machine.

    Configuration

In wlp/usr/servers/worklightServer/server.xml adjust the directory names to the databases.

If you want a multi-user installation, adjust the permissions (chown, chgrp, chmod commands).

For an installation with a pre-existing web application server

Copy the contents of the installation directory to the server machine. Then proceed as described in the Worklight Administration Guide.

Yes, the IBM Worklight 5.0.5 Server installer supports "silent mode", also known as "command-line mode".

You find the documentation in the InfoCenter here.
