Pinned topic Does RPE support generating document using DOORS data via OSLC

‏2012-08-17T08:49:16Z |
I tried discovering schema with DOORS service provider URL and using DOORS OSLC link as data source URL, neither succeeds(with authentication failure).

Is it already supported? Or any known gaps?

Thanks!

    Hey,

RPE does not support extracting DOORS data via the OSLC API since that API is not reportable. You need to use the dedicated DOORS driver from RPE.

      Thanks Dragos for your reply.

Could you please be more specific about 'not reportable'? Or is there any specification/documentation I can refer to?

      Thank you again.

And another question, is RRC OSLC API a reportable one? Thanks!

    Hi,

for DOORS it means it was not validated to be used for document generation with RPE and it does not expose all the data needed for docgen.

For RRC the reason is that the OSLC API does not expose all the data needed for reporting, it exposes only what's needed for data linking. For RRC you have the Reportable REST v1 API that you can use for document generation.

See this for more details: http://rpeactual.wordpress.com/2011/04/27/understand-reportable-api/

    Regardsm,

      Hi Dragos,

We want to show a customer a simple sample template for RQM+DOORS document generation, who is moving to DOORS 9.4 and wants a report based on OSLC style. So it's OK if DWA OSLC API doesn't expose all data for now, we can use what the properties DWA OSLC API has been exposed, and use a schema created by ourselves, to demonstrate the approach.

But you also mention that DWA OSLC API hasn't been validated for document generation with RPE. I encountered with the authentication issue when GET the DWA OSLC URL. Is the authentication thing among those 'not validated' issues?
