Pinned topic pureQuery API support without DataStudio ?

‏2012-08-13T12:20:44Z |
Our Java development team use Eclipse 3.6 (with several plugins : commercial, free plugins and home made). We are mainly interested in pureQuery development. Are the necessary tools available outside DataStudio ? As Eclipse plugins for instance ?

    Hi,

The pureQuery development features are integrated with IBM Data Studio.

IBM Data Studio is a fully licensed product available at no charge and with no time
restrictions and Data Studio v3.1.1 is based on Eclipse 3.6.x.
To download Data Studio, see IBM Data Studio: Available at no charge

From What's New in IBM Data Studio Version 3.1.x
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27021898

    Client platform enhancements
Updated the Eclipse platform to enable shell sharing with other products based
on Eclipse 3.6.x including IBM Rational Software Architect Version 8.x, Rational
Application Developer Version 8.x, Rational Developer for System z Version 8.x,
and InfoSphere Data Architect Version 8.1

    I hope this helps.

    Regards.

    Thanks for this answer,

I understand IBM does not provide any PureQuery API support outside Data Studio. Is it possible to have a list of feature/plugins that provide the pureQuery support for Eclipse (in order to export these features/plugins into our Eclipse stack) ?

    regards

Separating out the PureQuery tooling plugins will be difficult at this point without bringing along the rest of the IBM plugins from Data Studio. Have you considered shell sharing between your development environment and Data Studio? If that works shell sharing may be the easiest to get PureQuery tooling into your environment.

Thank you for your interest in PureQuery and Data Studio.

Thank you for answering, but I don't think shell sharing will help us in our aim to manage our Eclipse environment with the minimum dependencies against tool editors like IBM. It will save us space on our hard drive but I think, at the cost of unecessary dependencies. For instance, this would probably delay an Eclipse upgrade to version 4.2
