Pinned topic MMR sync notification

‏2012-08-07T12:47:20Z |
Hello Maters,

How can i receive notification when two linked domain services - MMR are synchronized.

We have two sites per region. These two sites (domain services) are linked via MMR method. If site 2 has been failed and restarted, how can i know that the synchronous process among above sites has been finished.

I didn't find any xscmd command or JMX MBean that supply this notification.

Your direction/insight would be highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Erwin

xscmds that are useful but you will have to manually calculate are:

xscmd -c showLinkedDomains - to verify a link still remains
xscmd -c showLinkedPrimaries - to verify which shards are linked.
xscmd -cep <catalogServersInDomain1> revisions - Filter this list down to focus on the primary shards shown in the showLinkedPrimaries and store the revision numbers.
xscmd -cep <catalogServersInDomain2> revisions - Filter this list down to focus on the primary shards shown in the showLinkedPrimaries and store the revision numbers.

We are adding enhanced tooling to show the domain replication state in the near future so that this will become easier to do.

    Hi Lisa,

We are using the latest version of eXtreme Scale v8.5.0.1. I tried xscmd.sh -c showLinkedDomains.... However, the command is not defined in xscmd. Could you please tell me which version of xscmd is supporting showLinkedDomains?

    Thanks in Advance,

To see what commands are available for your version, invoke this command to list commands associated with MMR.

    xscmd.sh -lc MultiMasterReplication

showLinkedDomains will be available in an upcoming release. As said before, we are adding enhanced tooling to show the domain replication state in the near future.

    Hi Lisa,

Thank you so much for your response. It is pretty clear that our current xscmd from eXtreme Scale v8.5 does not support this command. Does command:showLinkedDomains need new feature in future eXtreme Scale release to work? Or it can work with eXtreme Scale v8.5. But, this command is just not included in current xscmd?

    Thanks,

    Hello All,

If I'd like to indicate programmatically the grid MMR status, can I use the ObjectGridMBean:getPrimaryShardLinks:status JMX MBean?

    Thanks,

    Hello Lisa,

According your answer in order indicating MMR links success we need to run following commands:

xscmd -c showLinkedDomains - to verify a link still remains xscmd -c showLinkedPrimaries - to verify which shards are linked. xscmd -cep <catalogServersInDomain1> revisions - Filter

this list down to focus on the primary shards shown in the showLinkedPrimaries and store the revision numbers. xscmd -cep <catalogServersInDomain2> revisions - Filter

this list down to focus on the primary shards shown in the showLinkedPrimaries and store the revision numbers.

    1. We are using XS version 8.5.0.3 but I didn't figure out any showLinkedDomains command.
    2. From your answer I have understood that I need to compare the two revisions lists from the both domain services in order
detecting that both sides primary revisions numbers are equal,
this will verify that the MMR link sync was successful.
    Is it correct?
    3. Do we need to use the same commands in order verifying successful sync among Zones ?

Your directions would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Erwin
