‏2012-07-25T14:15:42Z |
Hi!

We bought 2 X3100 M4 Server Pc. I set RAID1 and running the Windows Server 2008 R2 install. The install not freeze but I saw only background and i can move mouse but didn't see the select language dialog. If I turn off raid everything OK.
Maybe I must wait for raid synchronizing???

    Dear Csaba,

did you use IBM ServerGuide CD for Win2008R2 installation?
What is the RAID controller do you use?

    Hi,

I faced exactly the same problem at a client of ours.

The disks controller was configured in RAID mode, with an array created in only two of the three hard drives installed (Bay 0 and 1, RAID 1).

When trying to install "Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation," coming up in graphical mode, it stays with the frozen screen - showing only the background screen, not locked because the mouse moves the pointer and the keyboard works the Caps Lock and Num Lock, no longer shows any option nor progresses.

I tested installation via ServerGuide v9.22 without success.

I updated all firmwares via BoMC - Bootable Media Creator, but the defect persisted.

Only after loading the default UEFI, save, reboot, configure controller disks in RAID mode, save, reboot, configure RAID 1 controller, save, reboot, and trying to install "Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation" through serveguide 9.22, it worked. It worked only thus!

    Dear all,

I encounter the same problem on x3100 M4, with Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation (bought from IBM, with the server).

I was not able to get past the frozen screen, tried about everything I could think of:
Updated the server with IBM BMC, loaded defaults in BIOS, used ServerGuide 9.22 to install Windows Server (managed to install it, but it`s not booting, it`s stuck in disk.sys or something like that).

Did someone manage to finally preload Server 2008 R2 Foundation on M4 version?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Finally managed to install it, I had to clear the raid configuration from BIOS and make the array with the ServerGuide CD.

    hi,

I can not create RAID 1 (two disc) on IBM x3100 m4 via hardware. The option is set in the RAID setup, but when restarted server option does not appear CTRL + C to access software controler.Help , please.
