Pinned topic Regarding Pop up of Relationship Type of attributes

‏2012-07-23T14:11:20Z |
Hi,

We have implemented category level security for some users in a catalog....ie. say Test Catalog. Now in an another catalog I have a relationship attribute which needs to be populated with Test Catalog item.

When the pop up for selecting the relationship attribute is opening up, its showing only the Unassigned Hierarchy in the catalog/hierarchy. Its not showing the hierarchy/selection which has been granted permission to that user from the Test Catalog/Hierarchy in the category level security implementation.

Can anyone suggest what access permission would be stopping the hierarchy to show in the Relationship attribute value selection pop up.

Attached is the screenshot too..

Thanks in advance,
Chetan

It looks like your set-up is not complete rather than permissions.
Log in as the admin user and check if the admin can select the additional options. If he can't, then that means you have not set up the relationship attribute properly.

      Hi Karan,

      Thanks for the reply...
Yes..Admin user is able to see all the categories in the hierarchy in the relationship Attribute Selection pop up...
The specific user..as has been given access only to selection and selection items (specific categories)...SO I think by default at least the selection specific categories (Which that user is able to see in the left navigation in that hierarchy) should show in the Relationship Attribute pop up ......

      Thanks,

You are right, the test proves permissions issue. But we can't give category specific privileges; we can however do so on a hierarchy or spec level. Check which hierarchy has the categories that you are looking for.
Now, when you define a hierarchy, one of the prompts(last one) is to assign, "Access Control Group"; check which one that is. Now go to "Data Model Manager" > "Security" > "Access Control Group" > "Access Control Group Console". Make sure the user role have ATLEAST the view access for the corresponding ACGs that the hierarchy /spec has.

          Hi Karan,

If I give "view hierarchy nodes" permission to that user on the ACG which is mapped to the hierarchy, then my category level security won't work. As I have given access to only the selections to the user (not the hierarchy nodes) in that Catalog/hierarchy ACG.

          Thanks,

If you have given the right access permissions to the users(depending on your set-up), then this questions requires an analysis of your set up and the forum is not an ideal place for such time intensive activity. Please open a PMR: https://www-946.ibm.com/support/servicerequest/
