Pinned topic [Solved] Worklight 5.0 dev edition does not install correctly on Mac OS X

‏2012-07-20T20:55:58Z |
Any outstanding install issues with Mac OS X (Lion), Eclipse Indigo, and Worklight 5.0 from the Eclipse marketplace?

It installs but never shows any contributions to the UI. Visiting the software removal dialog shows that the assets installed ok...

I looked through the previous threads on the forum and tried the zip and p2 installs with no luck. I am able to install it to eclipse running at the same level on linux and windows (64-bit).

Any suggestions?

Hi John, could it be that you are using ADT v20 for Android development?
We are investigating an issue with ADT20 in combination with Worklight.

I'm using Lion, Indigo and ADT 18 and having the same issue. The Worklight plugin appears to install successfully, but there are no commands, functions or menu options available through the UI.

Are you seeing this after a re-install? Or are you installing it in an Eclipse version with tons of plugins?

I had the issue, and I solved it by just doing a clean install of Indigo Java EE version, ADT (before Worklight), and then install Worklight.

Eclipse is a big complicated monster, specially if you start adding plugins.

I'm installing worklight into any existing eclipse install from less than 6 months ago. I had been using that install for Android development. I was also using the RTC plugins.

The worklight plugin installed successfully, why isn't it showing up?

Try starting Eclipse using the "-clean" flag.

I am not sure how to do this from Terminal, but what you add this flag to eclipse.ini (located in <yourEclipseFolder>Eclipse >> right-click >> Show Package Contents >>Contents >> MacOS
This should clean various past decencies that might have damaged the installation.

    You can also run:

    ./eclipse -clean

from your Eclipse home directory in terminal to accomplish the same thing without adding it to your ini file.

Thanks. Launching eclipse with the -clean argument resolved my problem. I'm now able to access the worklight plugin functionality using Lion, Indigo and ADT 18.

I'll check on the version but, it's the one that pops up when you search for Android in the Eclipse Marketplace.

If you want, you could try again today -- v.20.0.1 is out and appears to be less problematic. I'm testing it out now. You'll need to start over with a clean Eclipse.

Just installed on Indigo on CentOS. ADT first, then WL5. No conflicts during install however, even after starting with -clean, there are no WL contributions visible in the IDE. I could not see a way to install an older version of ADT to test the <2.0 working theory.

Additionally, I've actually had more success using Juno rather than Indigo but, nothing has worked well enough to be called a satisfying install experience so far.
