Pinned topic AppMan prereqs for GDPS integration / zEnterprise

‏2012-07-17T16:40:28Z |
Hello,

we are discussing about the GDPS integration of AppMan for our zEnterprise environment as a single point of switching and alerting (in disaster scenarios).

Our setup:
  • z196 and zBx are attached to the same storage system (DS8K)
  • GDPS PPRC/Hyperswap is installed
  • AppMan is running on RHEL x86 systems as a 2-node-cluster (outside of zEnterprise)

Is it possible to use the GDPS DDR in this setup?

I looked into the AppMan installation guide, but did not find anything about the prereqs. What makes me wondering, is that the "Manage Hardware"-button in the cfgeezdmn / DDR dialog is disabled...

Thanks,
Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

good, that you are planning to look at this integration.
Concerning your question - the "Manage HArdware" button is not enabled in your environment, since you are not running on Linux on System z.

What are the scenarios you try to cover with your GDPS integration of SA AppMan?

    regards,

    Josi

      Hi Josi,

      scenarios are
      • coordinated site switch for all zEnterprise workloads (z196 + zBx)
      • integration of AppMan resources in GDPS scripts --> GDPS as single point of control (in disaster scenarios)

      Regards,
      Thomas
