Pasting a screen capture into a text object in 126.96.36.199 appears to work (the image is visible in the object) until the cursor is moved to another object. Then the screen capture becomes an empty "document" icon, which when double clicked, returns the error "This OLE object is a static DIB and cannot be activated." Inserting OLEs & Pictures from files seem to work fine.
I'm running 188.8.131.52 on a Windows 7 x64 bit vm machine. Has anyone else seen this behavior, or know of a workaound or existing APAR?

Re: Can't paste screen capture in 9.4.0.02012-07-17T06:58:44Z in response to karringordonHi,
I had the same behavior in 9.3 on a W7 64 bits. Never found why until I had my PC fully reinstalled. Works OK now.
Sorry I cannot help you but this is not related to the 9.4.
Re: Can't paste screen capture in 9.4.0.02012-07-17T13:21:40Z in response to karringordonThank you for confirming Alain.
I have tried to instances of W7x64 and one instance of W7x32 with 220.127.116.11, and all behave the same way, losing the screen capture image. Windows XP with 18.104.22.168 works properly. I'm sure there is some obscure Windows 7 configuration causing the issue, but who knows what?! Google shows lots of discussion about clipboard issues in Windows 7. If I find a specific fix will post it here.
Re: Can't paste screen capture in 9.4.0.02012-07-18T07:35:27Z in response to adevicqAnother test: the same object displays normally on another OS (other than W7).
Therefore it is not at creation time that we do have an issue: objects are appropriately created with the image but we cannot see them on a W7 environment...
If you google "DOORS object cannot be activated" you will find some answers even in the DOORS documentation. But no way to find a solution (for the moment).

Re: Can't paste screen capture in 9.4.0.02012-07-18T14:04:34Z in response to adevicqIt might not necessarily be the OS that is the issue. When you do your tests, take note of the version of Microsoft OFFICE that is installed. The OLE libraries used by third party applications such as DOORS come from Office and not the OS. On one of the newer Office releases, Microsoft broke a bunch of the OLE support. My guess is that when you are using Win7, you also have the newer Office. When you are using XP you have the older one without the screwups in it.
Sorry I can't remember off hand which versions it started in but it's the one where you can no longer create a "Word Picture" type OLE (you only have a "Word Document" type OLE now).
Re: Can't paste screen capture in 9.4.0.02012-07-18T14:25:34Z in response to JWisemanThe following combinations do not paste clipboard images properly in 22.214.171.124:
1. Windows 7 x64 with MS Word 2010
2. Windows 7 x32 with MS Word 2007
Windows XP with MS Word 2007 does paste clipboard images properly in 126.96.36.199. I am cutting a PMR today.
Re: Can't paste screen capture in 9.4.0.02012-07-18T17:25:45Z in response to adevicqSupport confirms this as a defect:
This behavior in DOORS has been identified as a defect. PM57507
This is only the case with DOORS 188.8.131.52, 184.108.40.206 AND Windows 7.
- In DOORS 220.127.116.11 and Windows 7 the static DIB displays fine (not as an icon)
- In DOORS 18.104.22.168 and Windows XP or Windows 2003 Server, the static DIB displays fine (not as an icon)

Re: Can't paste screen capture in 9.4.0.02012-07-31T08:55:31Z in response to adevicqHi
(I am using DOORS 22.214.171.124)
The two bugs PM57507 and PM69703 look quite similar.
I got this info from the support:
DIB (Device Independant Bitmap) objects are not displayed in Windows7 ou Windows 2008. This behavior's appeared by version 126.96.36.199, and known as bug.
To "solve" the issue, you can use a client older than 188.8.131.52 (much simpler than changing the OS).
I've installed an older client, and I don't encourter the pb any more

Re: Can't paste screen capture in 9.4.0.02012-12-14T16:02:31Z in response to karringordonHi Karringordon,
I confirm that I face the same problem you described:
pasting a screen capture (from the Snipping Tool) into a text object works (the image is visible in the object) until the cursor is moved to another object. Then the screen capture becomes an empty "document" icon, which when double clicked, returns the error "This OLE object is a static DIB and cannot be activated."
To see my "screen capture" in DOORS and be able to export it to Word, the solution of inserting an OLE object of type "Microsoft Word" and then of pasting the screen capture in this OLE object works fine.
I did not explore solutions that allow direct pasting of screen capture in object text.
I'm running DOORS 184.108.40.206 IRDRMFAO 6.1 on a Windows 7 SP1 x64 bit with Word 2010.

Re: Can't paste screen capture in 9.4.0.02013-01-04T14:40:14Z in response to SystemAdminWe've never had any luck pasting anything (except text) directly into a DOORS object. Pasting to a Word document, saving the Word document, and then Inserting as an OLE Object (select the Word document) is the way we do it. We're using Windows XP SP3 and DOORS 220.127.116.11
