2012-07-09 22:30:15 A core eclipse exception has occurred: Failed to read project description file from location '/Users/xxxxx/Mobile/trial/MyWorklightProject/apps/MyWorklightApp/android/native/.project'.

    Hello LaksSundar,

I have a similar environment (OSX 10.7.4, Eclipse 3.7.2, WL 5.0.1, XCode 4.3.3) and I made this video that shows how to start from scratch and end with a Worklight application that uses jQuery Mobile for Android and iOS: https://vimeo.com/45374545

Maybe you missed a step and the video helps =]

Make sure you have XCode and ADT (Android Developer Tools)+Android SDK installed before trying to build/run those projects using those environments.

    Hi LaksSundar,

Did Carlos' video help? If so can you mark this post answered? Thanks.

I've hit something like this today as well, on my mac which has been working without incident for weeks. The only difference I can note today is that I did a switch workspace and created a new workspace for the exercise I am conducting right now. I did not select any of the copy settings. I have seen a few additional strange things like inability to delete the failed iPhone environment due to file permissions issues. Maybe the new workspaces aren't being "seeded" properly?

I've been having this problem for a few days on Linux ... I assumed that it was a Linux issue, but suddenly this morning I saw it on Mac. I don't know what has changed. I am running:

    Indigo SR2
    Worklight 5.0.1.299-developer-edition
    ADT 20.0.3.v201208082019-427395

    error is:

A core eclipse exception has occurred: Failed to read project description file from location '/Users/dhuyvett/Documents/workspace3/Test/apps/Test/android/native/.project'.

This happens when I try to add an Android Environment to an App

Can you check your Studio version?

    For 5.0.0.3 development, I have 5.0.2.407-developer-edition

    For 5.0.0.2 development, I have 5.0.1.299-developer-edition.

Currently the versioning scheme for studio plugins is a bit ... confusing (its being worked on) but that version number that you have looks odd.

    Hi,

I'm having the same problem. I've been successfully creating and running Android apps but today I'm getting an error when I add an Android environment. I see the following errors.

2012-09-24 14:48:16 android build failed: com.worklight.builder.exception.WorklightBuildRuntimeException: Resource Manager - Error while reading XML file: /Users/davidwhitehouse/Documents/workspace1/TestProject/apps/TestApp/android/native/AndroidManifest.xml (No such file or directory) Nested exception: /Users/davidwhitehouse/Documents/workspace1/TestProject/apps/TestApp/android/native/AndroidManifest.xml (No such file or directory)
    2012-09-24 14:48:17

A core eclipse exception has occurred: Failed to read project description file from location '/Users/davidwhitehouse/Documents/workspace1/TestProject/apps/TestApp/android/native/.project'.
the app->android->native folder only has 'assets' and 'res' the other folders and files are missing.

I checked the Eclipse workspace .log file but didn't see any error messages
I also tried created a project in a new workspace.

    Here's my environment:

    Mac OSK 10.8.1
    Android
Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers.
    Version: Indigo Service Release 2
    Build id: 20120216-1857

IBM Worklight Studio 5.0.30.v20120808_2026 com.ibm.imp.tools.feature.feature.group IBM

I have hit the same issue again and iPhone app won't build. Looks like there is very little help available in documentation for this error.

By the way, last time when I had the error I got around it by doing a clean Install - Eclipse + Worklight. I know that would work but hate to do it again now

This time I opened eclipse with option clean and here is what I see in the logs. Looks like something is broken w.r.t ClassTransformer. Is there a fix available for this or should I need to do a reinstall of Eclipse + Worklight?

Ok, Looks like I figured out a possible solution without re-install. This works on my Mac, so not sure about Windows!

    Here's what I did:

Restarted the Mac, ran eclipse -clean on same workspace and tried again.

Not sure if it is something to do with cleanup in terms of Worklight Derby DB but seems like a really tricky one to figure out.

Using a Mac I ran across this same error and I resolved it without needing to even restart Eclipse. Here's what I did:

    1) Delete the iPhone environment from the project.
    2) Using another project in my workspace that contained an iPhone environment, perform a Build all and Deploy.
    3) From a terminal window run the following command on your workspace folder: chflags -R nouchg ./workspace
    4) Add an iPhone environment and perform a Build all and Deploy in the project that had problems.

wow.. how did U figure that? was the eclipse complaining about a shared workspace?

are U sharing this workspace between multiple eclipse runtimes?
