Pinned topic Is it possible to deploy DB2 instance?

‏2012-06-29T04:26:51Z |
Hello.

This is an information of my SCAWS beta 3 instance:
Data Center: Raleigh, USA
Service: IBM SCAWS v1.0 Beta3
Service ID: 2615
Storage ID: N/A
Server ID: 252514
Server IP: (I can tell you, if needed)
Status: Active

Now I can design Virtual System Pattern in my IWD.
When I tried to create and deploy single WAS server VM in my pattern with my simple WAR file and shell script, it succeeded to deploy as instance. Now I can access to that app server with my browser.

But when I tried to create single DB2 server VM(with no script) in my pattern, it always failed to deploy as instances, with message "Virtual machine could not be registered".

Maybe this would be same reason, but when I tried to create WAS and DB2 combined pattern, it always failed to deploy as instance too.
I embedded two screen shot images: one is for pattern design, and another one is deployed( and failed ) instances.

I wonder if this DB2 Express-C VM image could be correct one or not..
Is it possible to deploy DB2 instance? Anybody succeeded?

Thanks for advance. Regards.

    Hi pi314,

Do you have any instance created at all listed in the " instance tab" related to the "SCAS instance" you created?
If so it would be good to see those logs. I know DB2 instances have been deployed.

    Rich.

I embedded new 2 screen shot images in this reply.

From IBM SmartCloud Control Panel(scaws_db2_3.png), I see 2 service instances are running now. But on the other hand, information message says I am currently using 3 instances..

And from Instance tab of my IWD(scaws_db2_4.png), I see one("HelloWorld") WAS instance is running correctly, and other 2 instances are failed. But one of them("MySampleApp") also show me that WAS part is running and DB2 part is failed.

So I guess thatIBM SmartCloud Control Panel shows that those 2 WAS instances are running, and could be miss-counted failed DB2 instance as third one.

Is this information what you requested me? If you need any other information, I think I can show you.

Sorry for the delay, I was out of office due to the holidays. I will attempt to cross check with the logs to see if the instance count is correct.

I have not reproduced an error message like the one you provided, as yet.

I checked the billable logs and I only see you have the (3) three instances running. I also confirmed the settings of your account appear normal.

I would like to know you schedule to setup a free remote session with the team, but we should have the detailed logs first.

Go into te SCAWS and select System / Troubleshooting. Select download the trace logs and then send to us.

It might be a 15 MB ZIP file.

    Sincerely,

I have downloaded trace.zip from my SCAWS system.

For remote session with me( in Tokyo ), that can't be in your business time, I guess. That would be your night time or early morning time. Which do you prefer ?

    Mizutani,

    Thanks for making us aware.

Be sure you are using the Beta 3 image. I will note with development you are also having a failure to register on the VM.

I have recently duplicated this as well.

    Hello Rich.

    Sorry for late reply.
Yes, now I use the Beta 3 image.

Anyway, it seems there is no update more than 2 weeks.
It is critical for us to use DB2 for verification.
    Your update is appreciated.

    Thanks.

I wasn't sure if you are on the same project as Pi3.14

We have the problem logged for Service ID: 2615, but if you are using a different service instance and still having the issue then please create a trace file via the scaws troubleshooting.
    http://www.ecurep.ibm.com/app/upload

    Use generic PMR: 50838,550,000

    Upload is for: other

Email address is (very important) is : morganri@us.ibm.com

If possible, could you prefix the trace file with the Service ID, such as SRVID123456_Trace

    Sorry for the difficulties.

    Rich,

Mizutani-san and I are in same team.
We use different service, but our problem is same.

So could you analyze trace log file which I had sent for our problem.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
I have modified your account. Please reattempt your deployment, but first delete any previous instances, also only use Beta 3 version at this moment.

    Thanks,

    Hello.

Sorry for late reply. I didn't realize there were beta-5 released.

I have just confirmed that this problem has been resolved with SCAWS beta-5. I have created DB2 instance in VSP successfully.

    Thanks for your support.
