Is it supported to use both a NIM repository and a SCS based (VIO) repository concurrently with VMControl to deploy AIX Virtual Appliances?
Can the same SAN storage array (RAID5 or whatever) be used for both SCS and NIM provisioning operations - or must they be separate arrays ?
I have never used VIO based SCS - do you have to also have Flashcopy support (via V7000 or SVC) - or can VIO do SCS operations without FlashCopy capabilities from the underlying storage array ?
Any idea when VIO based Shared Storage Pools will be supported by VMControl ?

Re: SCS & NIM repository2012-06-25T15:23:26ZThis is the accepted answer. This is the accepted answer.Yes, you can have multiple image repositories defined in Systems Director:
NIM, SCS, KVM
You can have multiple image repositories of the same type as well (for example: two NIM and one SCS )
The same storage array can be used for both SCS and NIM provisioning. The pre-requisite setup (discovery and access to both the storage subsystem and the SAN switches) will provide the necessary pieces to provision new LUNs in both environments.
SCS does not require FlashCopy, it will use a "dd" (byte copy) during both capture and deploy for new LUNs. FlashCopy pushes the copy of the LUN off to the storage subsystem (don't forget you can use a TPC-R server in addition to native V7000/SVC FlashCopy).
