Pinned topic Installing Worklight Server V5.0 to RHEL6.x requires gcc

‏2012-06-21T06:01:00Z |
Hi, this is my experience.
Installation Worklight Server V5.0 to RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.2(x86-32bit) without gcc fails because installer uses cc for post installation process.
By default, gcc is not included RHEL6.x, so you should specify to install gcc or "yum install gcc" after install OS.

Yes you are correct, cc (or an equivalent) is currently required on all *nix platforms during installation. We are aware that this requirement is sometimes an issue and are working to address it. Thanks very much for your comment.

The bug has been fixed and will be available in the next IBM Worklight FixPack.
    Thanks

      1) Do the symptoms look like the log file contents below?
      2) is the fix available in 5.0.0.3?
(not sure what version below snippet came from - reported by email and this thread looked like the most likely match)

Yes, if you see this in the log file, you hit exactly this issue.

        > 2) is the fix available in 5.0.0.3?

        Yes, sure.

          Hi,

I got the same problem when I installed IBM Worklight server 5.0.5 on Red Hat Enterprise v6.1 x86-64bit just. The error log shows:

BTW, I'm using Installation manager - agent.installer.linux.gtk.x86_64 and OS is Red Hat Enterprise Linux v6.1.

Would like to have your advice! Thanks very much!

You must be trying to install version 5.0 and then update to version 5.0.5. The recommended way is to install 5.0.5 directly (click "Install" in Installation Manager, then pick version 5.0.5). See this technote, section "Installing 5.0 and a Fix Pack concurrently", for details.

hi, slowhand, appreciated for your response first!

well, I did install 5.0.5 directly then got the problem as above. So, I'm curious about how come the problem was shown if v5.0.3 fixed the problem already...

Compare with the problem encountered by the others, perhaps the only one difference is I'm using the installation manager v1.6.1 - agent.installer.linux.gtk.x86_64 which is a 64bit based installation manager for linux. So, is it possible that Worklight fixed the problem for the 32bit Installation Manager, but for the 64bit Installation Manager, Worklight doesn't include the necessary 64bit compiler component yet?

I will try to use the 32bit installation manager for linux to install Worklight v5.0.5 again again.

Note: IBM forums are in the process of migrating to a new format. During migration the forums will be frozen and in read-only mode. If you wish to continue this thread discussion please post it on stackoverflow, where the Worklight team and others can respond.

See the Forum Migration announce post for more details. Thank you.
