Pinned topic [Solved] Windows 7 as deployment environment

‏2012-04-10T14:59:24Z |
Hi,

I'm trying to use Windows 7 / Vista as one of my deployment environments. I have Windows sdk 7.1 installed as suggested by the studio. But I still couldn't get it to deploy. Is there any additional steps I need to do?

Thanks,
Diana

Do you get any error messages...?

The error in the console is:
2012-04-10 11:21:18 vista build failed: You must have Windows SDK 7.1 installed. See Worklight Developer Reference Guide for details.

I don't see any error in the server, probably it didn't make it there.

    Thanks,
    Diana

Have you restarted Eclipse after installing the Windows SDK?
Also, this error will appear if the SDK is not found. Did you install it in a different location than the default one?

I installed the windows sdk in the default location.
Destination folder for documentation and tools
    C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft SDKs\\Windows\\v7.0

    Destintation folder for samples
    C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft SDKs\\Windows\\v7.0\\Samples

I tried to restart eclipse, it didn't help either.

You say you've installed SDK 7.1,
Is there also a 7.1 folder?

    hm.. it doesn't exist.
Is it the right link? it says version 7.1. But from the log, i think it says 7.0

That looks like the right link. Without a 7.1 folder, building Windows Sidebar applications will fail.

You can try renaming your 7.0 folder to 7.1, but that might not be advisable...
Considering uninstalling the SDK and starting clean.

I reinstalled, the behavior is the same.
I tried to rename the folder from "v7.0" to "v7.1". it still doesn't work. What does it look for?

    My current path is:
    C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft SDKs\\Windows\\v7.1

    Thanks,

If I rename my Windows SDK's "7.1" folder to "7.0" and try to build and deploy the vista environment of my application, I get the following error message:
Vista build failed: Failed to locate signing tool. Installation of Windows SDK v7.1 might be corrupt. See Worklight Developer Reference Guide for details.
. So in your case it is a step before; the SDK is not found at all.

    Thanks Idan.
I reinstalled the sdk again. somehow it worked now. Not sure if it's also because I used the downloaded version of the sdk instead of the web installer. Anyway, Thanks!
