Pinned topic Updating BNT Layer 2/3 Copper Gigabit Ethernet Switch firmware

‏2012-06-11T15:06:00Z |
Hi,

I have three BlaceCenter H: Ha, Hb, and Hc. I'm planning to updagre the firmware but have problems with the switch firmware version.

Two of three BC H, Ha and Hb have the following switch firmware version: 1.5.15.0 and I assume the next upgrade should be 1.5.18.0. Can anyone confirm?

BNT Layer 2/3 Copper Gigabit Ethernet Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter
oftware Version 1.5.15.0 (FLASH image1), active configuration.
PCBA Part Number: 317857-A
Hardware Part Number: 26K6524
FAB Number: EL4512011
Serial Number: YJ1ZGS5A1289
Manufacturing Date: 40/05
Hardware Revision: 3
Board Revision: 2
PLD Firmware Version: 1.0

But on the Hc, there are 6 switches. The first two switch firmware version is 5.2.3.1, and assume the next upgrade shold be 5.2.8. Can any one confirm? and why the version is different from the switch in Ha and Hb version 1.5.18.0?

BNT Layer 2/3 Copper Gigabit Ethernet Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter
Software Version 5.2.3.1 (FLASH image1), active configuration.
PCBA Part Number: 317857-C
Hardware Part Number: 32R1866
FAB Number: EL4512029
Serial Number: Y257VT17B130
Manufacturing Date: 28/11
Hardware Revision: 4
Board Revision: 2
PLD Firmware Version: 1.0

The last 4 switches version is 5.1.5. Why are they different from the other two firmware version even though the switch HW models are identical?

NT Layer 2/3 Copper Gigabit Ethernet Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter
Software Version 5.1.5.0 (FLASH image1), active configuration.
PCBA Part Number: 317857-C
Hardware Part Number: 32R1866
FAB Number: EL4512029
Serial Number: Y257VT1AK059
Manufacturing Date: 42/11
Hardware Revision: 4
Board Revision: 2
PLD Firmware Version: 1.0

Your help is appreciated

Ren

    yes.

    yes.

there are few software types for this switches. You can use any which you want.

    > Why are they different from the other two firmware version even though the switch HW models are identical?

it means local staff didn't install the same type of software for all switches in initial hardware installation.

    Hi Guys,
I do not know is this right place but maybe you can help me.

We have a IBM Bladecenter with integrated Nortel switch.
The problem is I am not able to change anything on the switch because I am getting the following errors:
    >> azimov-in - Main# diff
Diff is issued by another user. Try later.

    >> azimov-in - Main# revert
Confirm reverting unapplied changes y/n: y
Diff is issued by another user. Try later.
Probably, we need to upgrade IOS but this server is on the remote location and no one is there.
My question: Is possible update safely new IOS/IMAGE and how to do it?
