Pinned topic TDWC create user for viewing only

‏2012-06-01T15:28:20Z |
Hi

As the title implies, I wish to create a user that has permissions to only view the schedule and not be able to submit or do anything with any jobs or jobstreams.

Can anybody tell me which groups I need to assign to that user to achieve this?

I'm not sure of the TWDC version as I installed it quite a while ago (and can't check right now), TWS is 8.4 though.

I would be grateful for any help - I need to get this user set up as we are moving away from the JSC as it doen't work with Windows7.

TIA

Within the TDWC, Roles define what menu options will appear on the user's portfolio. Roles do not control what kind of access to scheduling objects/instances the user receives. Roles are explained here:
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/tivihelp/v47r1/topic/com.ibm.tivoli.itws.doc_8.6/awsadtdwcrolesconf.htm
The TWS security model defines which access each user has to every type of scheduling object, in the database and in the plan. TWS security controls access from all user interfaces, including the TDWC and command line interfaces. After the user passes through the TDWC menus and portlets they must still be granted access to specific objects.

Ah, I see. So I give them the 'operator' role so they can see those menus and then configure the security file to state what they can do (as you do in the TWS sec file)?

So it turns out is does just use the TWS security file - far less complicated than it looked to start with!

    Thanks for your reply.
