Pinned topic SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle / has not been defined

‏2012-05-28T09:11:10Z |
We're running WebSphere Process Server 6.2 on WAS 6.1

Every five seconds or so we get the following message on the process server logs...

SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle / has not been defined

It only seems to happen in our Production Environment.

It's not related to anyone accessing the console or any UI control features.

Does anyone know how to stop it?

Thanks

    Hi,

If it is only happening on production env, then it looks like issue related to environment.
Check, if there is no any 'monitoring' solution, which checks, if the server is running.
It looks like there is some kind of tool or application which sends http requests like:
http://yourhost:port/ , and since you don't have any application mapped to '/' context root there goes the message.

You can either create and deploy custom app which will handle calls to / or change the calling url to point correctly to some existing application.

Thanks for your quick response. I think the situation is as you describe.
You wouldn't happen to know how I can tell what IP the request is coming
from would you? Someone here said they thought it would be in a HTTP log
somewhere. If we can confirm the requesting app we can get it changed.
    Thanks

If you are using IHS before WPS (but probably not), than look for the access.log in the IHS_ROOT/logs folder.

If you are going straight to the webcontainer (via host:port), then you need to enable NCSA access log in the web container as described on this page:

Thanks. Unfortunately our NCSA logging is currently switched off.
But that definitely looks like the place to look.
    Thanks
