Pinned topic Error while deploying a Simple HelloWorld Virtual App

‏2012-05-15T14:20:04Z |
Hi,

I am trying to deploy a simple HelloWorld Virtual Application just to test and learn. But I get an error that says "Virtual machine could not be registered".

Is there something I am missing? I know the statement is too vague. But.. I don't really know what else needs to be shared to make the question understandable.

Awaiting response from someone to get the right question.

thanks,
Sridhar

    Sridhar,

Do you recall which dataceter you were using at that time? Have you tried again since then?

The data center was "Raleigh, U.S.A." (As per instructions on http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/dw/puresystems/dW_Trial-Application_Workload_Services_steps.pdf)

I've tried it a couple more times and I still seem to get the same error. I've created new service instances for the "Application Workload Services" and have started from scratch. But nothing seems to get an instance up.

    thanks,
    Sridhar

    Sridhar,
Do you recall be prompted to except a certificate or download an RSA file for the instance you created?
An admin loocked at your account and reported that you have yet to accept the certificate.

I was prompted for a certificate for my browser which I accepted. But was never prompted for an RSA file.
    BTW, I use Firefox 8.0.1

    Sridhar,

Login to the SCE Portal and go to the Account tab. In the middle of that page you will see an object that will allow you to generate a key or change the key for an instance.

Yes. I see that. But as far as I understand, that certificate is for accessing an instance that has been created. But, in my case, there are no instances. So... not sure what the problem is.

BTW, I've created a new key and have downloaded the private key.

I was able to launch a separate instance and access it via putty. But Workload services is still not able to launch any. Still getting the same error "Virtual machine could not be registered".

    Hi,

When you login to SCAWS instance do you see any errors in the Cloud Group configuration page?

Username and Password same as in the SCE settings and a SSH key (previously generated by you) already applied by Name?

    Hi,

There are no errors shown on the Cloud Group config page. But not exactly sure what you mean by "SSH key (previously generated by you) already applied by Name".

Although, on the Hypervisor config page, the status says "Started (move to maintenance mode to make changes)". Is this a problem?

    Type: SCE
    Version: RHEL
Current status: Started Started (move to maintenance mode to make changes)
In cloud group: SCE Default Cloud

And I don't see any errors related to UserName/Password. But when I try to edit Hypervisor,
I get an error saying File not found: /dashboard/cloud/hypervisors/1337156984111. I guess this is not a problem.

Can you attempt using the Beta Drop 3 image, or we can setup a Lotus Live Session for your issue?

    hi,

Somehow, the same procedure seems to work now. I was able to launch the application and access it. I think it may have been fixed after the Raleigh datacenter outage.

    thanks for looking into this.
