Pinned topic ERROR: ESI: getResponse: failed to get response: rc = 10

Environment: IBM BPM v7.5.0.1 running on IBM Websphere Application server 7.0.0.17 on Window 2008 R2 on VMWare
Topology: Network Deployment - Remote messaging pattern
I am using IHS to load balance between the application clusters. The HTTP plugin log produces the following errors:
Fri May 11 10:54:40 2012 00001b74 00001b30 - ERROR: ESI: getResponse: failed to get response: rc = 10

Fri May 11 10:55:22 2012 00001b74 00002310 - ERROR: ws_common: websphereWriteRequestReadResponse: Failed to find an app server to handle this request

I've tried to find the root cause. No luck though. I managed to find a link http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=jpn1J1007471 but could not really understand what is wrong with configuration or environment itself.
Attaching httpd.conf for refernce.
Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How many app servers are defined on each node? When you installed WAS it should have created default servers. Are the default servers still in the configuration? If they are, have you deployed any apps to these default server?

If you have not, then delete the default servers and regenerate the plugins. Also make sure that you do not have any extraneous ports defined to virtual-host.

    Hi Sunit,
I have one app server per node and it is a cluster of two such ones. I am sure there aren't any default servers existing on the nodes.
Also, I am able to make connections between the IHS and App servers.

change the loglevel of plugin to trace and recreate the problem. Check the error messages.
